8 Ways Christians Can Recognize International Women’s Day

7. Celebrate Women Who Don’t Fit Your Theology

I’ll never forget meeting Pastor Lydia—a fiery Pentecostal woman who plants churches in brothels. My denomination doesn’t ordain women, but as she prayed over my sick daughter, God whispered: “My Spirit isn’t limited by your labels.”

On International Women’s Day, I reach out to a sister from a different tradition. Last year, I coffee’d with a Catholic nun who runs a homeless shelter. We disagreed on Mary’s role but bonded over Isaiah 58:10 (“Spend yourselves on the hungry”).

Challenge: Follow a female Christian leader you theologically disagree with on social media. Learn her heart before critiquing her views.
