8 Ways Christians Can Recognize International Women’s Day

6. Confess Where the Church Has Failed Women
This one’s uncomfortable, but crucial. Last Women’s Day, my pastor did something radical: He apologized.
He acknowledged how the church had silenced abuse victims, sidelined single women, and treated moms as “less called” than working women. He read Galatians 3:28 (“No male and female”) and said, “We’ve sinned against our sisters. Forgive us.” The altar was packed with weeping women.
How to apply: If you’re a leader, acknowledge specific failures. If not, share your own story. I once told my Bible study, “I judged working moms for ‘prioritizing careers.’ God wrecked me when I had to return to work after my husband’s job loss.”
